Simon V Young
Simon has 15 years
experience in the New
Zealand electricity industry
and financial markets.
In addition to a sound
understanding of the
needs of both issuers and
investors in these markets he brings extensive
public company governance experience in the
electricity sector.
Currently Simon is a director of The Lines Company,
Principal for The Karo Group, an advisory business
in energy and carbon markets, director of Windflow
Technology, a wind turbine manufacturer. He is
also director of Opunake Hydro Limited, a small
vertically integrated electricity generation and retail
business in Taranaki.
His early engagement in the electricity industry
came as founding Managing Director of Empower
Ltd, New Zealand’s first independent electricity
retailer.
Subsequently he worked extensively with Alliant
Energy, a NYSE utility with investments in New
Zealand, helping to reposition its investments after
the Bradford reforms and he was on the board of
TrustPower Ltd.
Simon holds a Bachelors Degree in Business
Studies and a Post-Graduate Diploma in
Horticultural Science (both gained at Massey
University), a Masters Degree in Science gained
from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, California, and a
Masters Degree in Economics gained from The
University of Auckland.
Arthur Muldoon
As a Chartered Professional
Electrical Engineer he has
extensive experience in
Business and the Electrical
industry.
His early career in England
with Design Consultancy, in
Transmission and Generation Operations brought
him to New Zealand some 35 years ago to the
NZED.
As a Senior Manager within the New Zealand
Energy sector he has been able to contribute to
the development and establishment of many
major infrastructure projects which have added to
the strength and security of electricity supply.
As a Group Manager within ECNZ he was at
various times responsible for the North Island
hydro generation and the Northern thermal
generation.
He has been a Director of MCo (the Electricity
Market Manager), a member of the Electricity
Market Surveillance Committee, and Chairman
of Eastland Infrastructure (incorporating Eastland
Network, Gisborne Port, and Gisborne Airport).
He is married with adult children.
He has qualifications in Electrical Engineering and
Business.
