HOW TO

APPLY

Entry to the New Zealand

School of Dance is by audition

only. Applicants will be

assessed on their potential

for training, aptitude for

dance, performance qualities,

commitment, musicality,

creativity, literacy and

achievement to date.

The School conducts auditions during

September/October in New Zealand

and Australia. Successful candidates

will be notified by the end of November

they have a place in the full-time

programme the following January.

Applications open mid-year, and

information must be submitted online

at

www.nzschoolofdance.ac.nz .

Applicants who cannot attend in

person at one of the audition centres

may apply by submitting an audition

video. Applicants accepted by video

audition are offered entry to the

School on a provisional basis only.

PRE-REQUISITES

Students are usually 16 to 18

years old when entering the

full-time course.

Preference will be given to

students who have attained

NCEA Level 1 (Yr 11 NZ or Yr

10 Australia) and who have

reached a level in classical

ballet equivalent to RAD

Advanced 1 (IDTA Advanced

level 1, BBO Advanced 1,

Cecchetti Advanced 1,

BAL Intermediate).

Students are

required to understand

conversational English.

COSTS

Course fees and costs are published

each year on the

School’s website .

New Zealand students can apply for

a government funded student loan to

cover tuition fees and course-related

costs, and a student allowance to cover

living costs. For further information

Scholarships are available on the

basis of merit and need. Students will

be considered for scholarships only

upon acceptance to the School.
