Tauira engagement is measured by the number of tauira enrolling at
Te Wānanga o Aotearoa and the number of EFTS consumed each year.
During 2012, we recorded a slight decrease (-128) in the number of tauira
enrolling with us.
The following chart shows the five year trend for tauira numbers.

At the same time, we recorded a slight in increase (+77) in the number of EFTS
consumed. This anomaly (tauira numbers decreasing while EFTS increase)
occurs when our tauira choose to study programmes of longer duration.

Consumed EFTS
Our EFTS target for 2012 was 20,401 against which we achieved 20,494 EFTS.
The variance between target and consumed EFTS is 0.5%, which falls within
the ±3% threshold set down by the Tertiary Education Commission.
