Key undertakings for 2013 – 2014
» The Authority is an integral participant in the
Waikato Economic Joint Venture project. This
is a group made up of the Ministry for the
Environment, Ministry for Primary Industries,
Department of Conservation, DairyNZ, the
Waikato Regional Council and the Waikato River
Authority. The project will look at the national
objectives for water and the impact this has on
the Waikato River and the economic future of
the Waikato.
» Waikato River Authority board membership will
be further reviewed in the coming year with a
number of both iwi and crown appointees to
be confirmed. The timing for the membership
review is November 2013.
» The development of a key partnership with
the Waikato Regional Council on the Make a
Ripple website will be continued. The website
will be used to map all
Authority funded projects so that they can be
seen in the context of many other restoration
projects that are happening in the Waikato River
Authority catchment.
» The 3rd funding round of the Waikato River
Authority will take place in the coming year.
» The Waikato River Authority will be establishing
itself in new premises during 2013/2014. The
Authority will be seeking office space that helps
to define its own identity and is fiscally prudent
in meeting the Authority’s present and future
requirements.
» The Authority will be commencing work on
its 5-yearly report to the Crown and Waikato
River iwi regarding the work achieved since the
Authority’s establishment in late 2010.
